Tassie Touring III

Well if the Mount Amos climb was somewhat challenging then the following day's activities couldn't have been more relaxing.

We took a trip on the Wine Glass Bay Cruise aboard a spacious catamaran with a jovial crew of three and the Captain's dog Rasta.

It was a really pleasant day and the breeze was light out on the water. We knew it was going to be a good day when the first glass of bubbles was in hand by 11am. The cruise around the Freycinet coast was just stunning and it followed the coast line around Hazards beach which we had walked a few days previous; we appreciated from the water what a healthy trek that was.







A tapas style lunch was served billy can style with all local produce. Tasmanian cheeses, fruits, ham, terrine and a naughty rocky road brownie.

We anchored up in Wine Glass Bay for our lunch, we sat at the stern with eyes agog at the beautiful clear water and the scenery around the bay. 



All this was topped off by a playful display from a pod of dolphins that had no doubt been following the boat's wake.

We were regaled with many tales of the whaling years and the harsh and brutal life in Freycinet that the people faced in those times.

Once again presented with such peace, beauty and serenity, it really was hard to imagine.

We hoped to see some whales breaching but instead we saw a few spouting and a tail slap, these whales were not extroverts however it was still amazing to know they were there cruising through the depths below us.

All too soon it was time to leave Freycinet however the lasting memory for us both, one which will always fill me with awe, is when we copped our mince pies on this vista.

An incredible sight and moment in our lives to treasure always.
Next we headed south to the capital Hobart with a dabble into our colonial penal history en route.
