A badass 50th!

Hubster's 50th celebration was nothing short of pure rock and roll.

I have been looking forward to writing this blog so much if only to relive some magical memories in words and pictures.

It went a bit like this.

Newman met us in the foyer just after 4pm. (What a cool name for a helicopter pilot)

He drove us down to "Departures" for the True North, the name of the absolutely magnificent helicopter which stood proud glinting in the afternoon sunshine.

We were both bubbling with excitement as we boarded the craft with Hubster up front with Newman.

Up we went and circled the lodge as the poolside guests stood and waved us off.

We were buzzing. The view from the air was spectacular as we approached Mount Casuarina.

Newman had to make a very tricky landing as the top of the mountain was covered in course, dense bush, he did a sterling job. Once on terra firma, he momentarily disappeared armed with bags and cool boxes. He then showed us to a clearing.

OMG!

Bolly Darling!
Speechless, we sat and sipped our bubbles, nibbled on the delectable cheese and fruits and watched the sun set over the Kimberleys.

It was an intensely special moment for us to share and as the sun dipped we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Hubster's big birthday.

Cracking the bubbly

It was a brilliant sunset

Cheers "Special people deserve special things" - Happy Big Birthday Hubster.

All too soon we had to board the True North once more but Newman left us with one final gift.

He told us that we were only the second people in aviation history to have landed on this mountain and given Hubster's love of mountains, it really was the perfect gift.
