This time last year we were in Melbourne on a recce with a view to a massive move out here.
It was the day of the Gold Cup and the streets and railway stations were thronging with a rainbow of floaty dresses and fascinators. There was such a buzz.
"If we make the move babe, that will be us next year" he said.
I remember thinking back then that it seemed an age away, a whole life removed from all I knew and I recall not really being able to get my head around it.
It was us.
Tuesday 6th November 2012.
We got suited and booted and joined the madding crowds.
An air-conditioned marquee.
Champagne flowing.
Delectable platters to graze on.
A fantastic atmosphere to uplift and excite.
Feeling feminine in a dress for a change!
Great people watching.
Thrilling racing......
....and some royalty to boot.
All in all a beautiful day.
